The annual TED Conference awarded its coveted TED Prize this week, granting a wish to inspire the world, to Dr. Sugata Mitra of India’s famed Hole in the Wall experiment. This experiment has consisted of an Internet connected computer stationed in a Delhi slum in which children partake in self-directed learning. He has further enhanced this project by developing “a granny cloud”, a network of adults charged with guiding children in their learning processes. Dr. Mitra will use the prize money to build “school in the cloud” modeled after his hole in the wall experiment, and will develop a toolkit for others who want to replicate his innovations.
