This TEDxVillageGate video feature Alex Kajitani, 2009 California Teacher of the Year and a Top-Four Finalist for National Teacher of the Year. Seeking a way to connect with his at-risk middle school students, Kajitani began to integrate rap music with the math he was teaching. Now known around the country as “The Rappin’ Mathematician,” his CDs are being used in classrooms and homes around the world. He is on a mission to “Make Math Cool,” speaks cross-country, and writes a bi-monthly column for teachers of at-risk students.
