As world leaders met in New York for the opening of the United Nations (U.N.) General Assembly, Secretary General Ban Ki-moon took the opportunity to introduce the U.N.’s Education First–a new initiative comprising three key goals: putting every child in school, improving the quality of learning, and fostering global citizenship. According to a UNESCO report to be released later this month, there are 61 million children of primary school age currently not enrolled in schools.
