According to a new report from the National Institute for Early Education Research, funding for state-funded pre-kindergarten programs across the U.S. dropped by a total of almost $60 million during the 2010-11 school year, despite research showing the benefits of quality early education. The drop marked the second consecutive year of state funding decline for early education; funding already had dropped $30 million during 2009-10.
