One Laptop Per Child (OLPC) announced on Thursday that it will add a multi-touch screen to the upcoming XO-1.75 laptop, which will start shipping next year, and modify software to leverage the new hardware. The laptops are designed for primary students, and touch-screen technology could reduce their need to use a mouse. OLPC will also add a multi-touch screen on its next-generation XO-3 tablet. OLPC is dedicated to creating educational opportunities for the world’s poorest children by providing each child with a rugged, low-cost, low-power connected laptop, along with content and software to enable collaborative, self-empowered learning.Source: PCWorld
