More than 90 colleges operating illegally in Kenya have been closed, and 40 principals of the private colleges have been apprehended and will face the law. Higher Education Minister Margaret Kamar said the government will not allow colleges to operate without following proper procedures.

Kamar further explained that several projects and programs are being implemented by the Kenyan government under Vision 2030 to address access, equity, quality, and relevance of the education sector. Kamari said for the country to remain relevant and competitive in a highly globalised world, there is need for education standards to be raised to international levels.
