According to a national survey conducted by the Higher Education Research Institute, U.S. faculty members are feeling stressed out and strapped for time to teach, although many of the most economically vulnerable professors remain improbably hopeful about career prospects This latest edition of the survey, which is conducted every three years, was administered during the 2010-11 academic year to 23,824 full-time and 3,547 part-time faculty who teach undergraduates at four-year institutions.
