Educationalists and policy experts meeting in Arusha, Tanzania, have called upon the government to fast track the Open and Distance Learning (ODL) initiative so that the policy will move forward. Lambertha Mahai, director of the Institute of Adult Education, said that once the policy paper is ready, it will be possible to implement many ODL goals. ”This will help in our efforts to strengthen and enhance personnel training,” said Mahai, adding that the ODL policy, once in place, will allow for quality assurance, control mechanisms, transfer of credits between colleges and institutions, and linkages between formal and informal education.
