Primary and secondary school students without a Beijing hukou (residence permit) now have the same education rights as their native counterparts. Starting this week, the Beijing education authority will adopt a new student enrollment policy that loosens enrollment restrictions on students from outside the city. The change is regarded as a breakthrough from the former policy, which allowed only four types of non-native Beijingers to study at local public schools.Source: China Radio International
