Blackboard announced yesterday plans to buy Elluminate and Wimba, whose products support online learning and student collaboration via video- and audio-conferencing tools. The acquired companies will become Blackboard Collaboration, a new platform dedicated to synchronous real-time learning, expanding Blackboard’s current portfolio of primarily asynchronous tools.Source: Inside Higher Ed
