Following a report of numerous plagiarism incidences by students taking free online college classes via Coursera, the startup has added honor-code reminders that students must acknowledge before submitting some assignments. Coursera cofounder Daphne Koller said the company currently is assessing the scale of the problem and is considering using plagiarism-detection tools. Coursera recently announced that it has enrolled more than one million students from around the world.
