The New Media Consortium, in collaboratoin with the Consortium for School Networking, has released the annual Horizon Report: K-12 Edition. The report identifies six technologies that will have a profound impact on teaching and learning over the next five years:
- Near-term (one year or less) technologies include cloud computing and mobile devices.
- Mid-term (two to three years) technologies include game-based learning and open educational resources.
- Longer-term (four to five years) technologies include learning analytics and personal learning environments.
