Bio

Frank is currently a Chief Inspector, part-time, with Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Education in Scotland. He also works beyond Scotland speaking and advising on a range of educational issues. He has a keen interest in the impact of technology, learning spaces and different teaching approaches.He has been involved in a number of international projects ranging across issues such as school transformation, quality indicators and health and wellbeing. Frank has been guest speaker at innumerable conferences and events across Scotland and has given talks in countries and regions such as Canada, Hong Kong, Greece, Germany, Finland, Ireland, Serbia, the Czech Republic and in New South Wales and Southern Australia.Frank has covered a wide range of remits in the Scottish Inspectorate including self-evaluation, national reporting on standards and quality, good practice, designing inspections, school improvement planning, primary education, secondary education, additional support needs and applying data and research to school improvement.He led the team that developed the online CPD resource for teachers (also on iTunesU) - The Journey to Excellence and headed the team in Scotland that devised the quality indicators in the first edition of the internationally known self-evaluation tool 'How good is our school?'.Earlier in his career, Frank was a science teacher, and a senior manager in a large comprehensive school. He served as Science Staff Development Officer for Glasgow City, and worked on various national committees developing teaching and curriculum resources in science and health education and related assessment and qualifications.
